This is the view of Ophrys sphegodes protocorms slowly developing at around 8 weeks from sowing. We have isolated several mycorrhiza fungi from this batch and are waiting to see how these isolates progress in germinating Ophrys seed. The current isolate is V1/c which is very fast growing and appears to allow the seed to swell and hydrate, but we are waiting to see definite signs of germination. The images of seeds below are 2 weeks from sowing on inoculated agar.
